This intimate yet spacious home studio is the base of producer Hugh Middleton. Hugh has experience in the music industry as a producer, songwriter and performer. He is the frontman and sole songwriter of Brisbane trio ‘Mid Ayr’ and performed as the lead guitarist for ‘The Trouble With Templeton’.
Mid Ayr’s first single ‘Letting You In’ was added to high rotation on Triple J and was the most played song for the station in 2016. Follow up single ‘Vampires’ won the Triple J Unearthed/NIDA competition, giving the band a chance to collaborate with some of Australia’s top Film & TV students at NIDA.
Since then, they have toured across the country with bands such as Ball Park Music, Moses Gunn Collective, Olympia, My Own Pet Radio and DMA’s as well as playing Jungle Love and End of the Line Festivals.
As a budding producer beginning his professional career in 2017, he has already had experience working alongside Australia’s most reputable producers including Matt Redlich (Holy Holy, Ball Park Music, Emma Louise etc.), Alex L’Estrange (Mid Ayr, These Guy, Big Bad Echo) and Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music). He has also solely produced music for the likes of Sometime Sonny, Jaguar Jonze, Maverick Holliday and more.
Having a background in performance and songwriting, Hugh’s production style sees him consider all aspects of a song prior to crafting the final product – from songwriting structure, lyrics, style, sounds, arrangement and production. Hugh is also a multi-instrumentalist being able to play guitar, bass, keys, drums and sing.
